LoRa concentrator/gateways are intermediaries that allow sensing devices to transmit data to the cloud. Providing coverage in difficult-to-reach indoor locations, the long-range wireless picocell gateway is an IoT platform that accompanies the LoRaWAN® infrastructure for use in homes, businesses and buildings. Semtech’s design is expected to help accelerate the adoption of IoT technology by bringing low cost LoRaWAN networks to market for consumers and private enterprises. This reference design offers a USB interface for low power gateway designs and connects thousands of sensors in a building or residential community within a range of one mile for outdoor sensor connectivity. It can simultaneously receive LoRa and FSK messages on multiple channels with an excellent -139dBm sensitivity.
Our other gateway, referred to as the baseband processor, is a massive digital signal processing engine specifically designed to offer breakthrough gateway capabilities to ISM bands worldwide. This processor works in conjunction with Semtech’s latest reference design and enables the addition of new features through a simple uploading process. Applications include smart metering, security sensors network, agricultural monitoring, and IoT.
