Jeff Gutierrez
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Jeff Gutierrez became General Counsel in November 2024. He is a highly experienced attorney specializing in a broad range of complex legal areas. Licensed to practice in both New York and Washington, he plays a pivotal role in overseeing the legal operations of Semtech Corporation and its subsidiaries. His expertise includes intellectual property licensing for System on a Chip (SoC) technologies, branding and trademark issues, and structuring contracts and business models for Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing—particularly in relation to LoRa and LPWAN technology. He is well-versed in drafting and negotiating SaaS agreements, RAND licensing, and managing standards alliances. Jeff has extensive experience in commercial contracts, corporate governance, including oversight of board meetings and external audits, as well as entity formation across Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
Mr. Gutierrez also brings a deep understanding of Swiss employment and business law, litigation and international arbitration, and serves as company secretary with strong outside counsel management skills. His knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks includes U.S. anti-bribery laws, GDPR/data privacy regulations, and the complexities of mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Semtech, he practiced at the law firms of King & Spalding in Washington D.C. and Summit Law Group in Seattle, Washington. Fluent in English, German, and French, Mr. Gutierrez holds a Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages from Washington State University and a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law.
