Semtech Demonstrates Advanced LinkCharge™ Wireless Charging Applications Beyond Smartphones

A wide ranging of wireless charging applications showcased including robotic vacuum cleaner, drone and outdoor surveillance equipment

Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced successful demonstrations of its LinkCharge™ wireless charging at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2018. Semtech’s LinkCharge wireless charging platform provides a range of solutions to enable wireless power in next-generation products for consumers, infrastructure and industrial applications.

In addition to charging smartphones, Semtech successfully demonstrated applications ranging from a 40 Watt robotic vacuum cleaner, 20 Watt drone, 15 Watt sub-surface furniture charger, 10 Watt surveillance equipment, and a low power 2 Watt two-in-one tablet/keyboard. Applications included both standards and non-standards solutions as the industry adoption continues to grow and power profiles continue to evolve.

“Compared to past years, it was encouraging to see how pervasive wireless power/charging technology was exhibited at CES 2018. Certainly the recent adoption of wireless charging technology in new smartphones has increased public awareness of the benefits of this technology and has had a positive impact on the market in general,” said Francois Ricodeau, Product Line Manager for Semtech’s Power and High-Reliability Products Group. “While Semtech’s LinkCharge wireless charging platform supports standards-based solutions, we continue to develop industry leading, meaningful innovation with advanced technology beyond smartphones as demonstrated in a wide range of applications at CES.”
