Semtech and MultiPhy Announce Demonstration of 100G Single Lambda Chipset with EML Optics at OFC 2018
Single Wavelength 100G technology poised to start production deployment
San Diego, CA at The OFC Exhibition March 12, 2018 – Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, and MultiPhy Ltd, a global market leader in DSP-based high bandwidth communications, announce their latest ground-breaking demonstration of 100G Single Lambda Technology utilizing the industry-leading PHY/PMD chipset for single lambda, 100G Ethernet and CPRI optical modules. The companies will demonstrate the new chipset, operating over 2 km optical links at OFC 2018. Single lambda 100G technology is expected to dramatically reduce the cost of Terabit networking, and represents a critical component for the build-out of next-generation hyper scale data centers as well as emerging 5G wireless networks.
The demonstration is comprised of multiple 2 km links using Semtech’s FiberEdge™ chipsets and MultiPhy’s FlexPhy devices driving EML optics. Semtech’s FiberEdge GN1860 EML driver with high output swing and linearity, Semtech’s GN3289 Linear ROSA with GN1089, a high-performance, low-noise linear transimpedance (TIA) amplifier, and FlexPhy are designed to provide a cohesive solution for implementing 100G single lambda interconnects.

MultiPhy’s FlexPhy platform is a low-power, high performance, DSP utilizing best-in-class signal processing technology to enable next generation Data Center and Wireless networks. The device’s mission mode adapts a 4x25Gbps NRZ CAUI4 host bus to a single 100G PAM4 IO pair on the line side. The device is packaged in a low profile BGA that features high-speed IO placement specifically optimized for use in QSFP28 modules.
