Semtech’s award-winning BlueRiver® technology is transforming the matrix switch by delivering high fidelity and low latency performance to Pro AV solutions. In this typical matrix switching application, the dedicated matrix switch hardware shown on top is replaced by a standard 10G Ethernet switch (bottom), providing a much more flexible and scalable architecture. Additional hardware required to implement video walls or multiviewers is also replaced by the powerful AV processing engine in each BlueRiver-enabled endpoint, dramatically reducing equipment and installation costs.

Greater System Design Flexibility and “On the Fly” Reconfiguration

All this functionality can be enabled via software control using the powerful SDVoE API, providing greater system design flexibility and reconfiguration “on the fly.” Quickly and easily transform multiple displays from showing different sources to displaying a single source in a video wall configuration.

Similarly, by subscribing multiple sources to the receiver driving a single display, powerful multiview layouts can be software-defined, such as quad split, picture-in-picture or custom layouts, as shown above. With fully integrated USB connectivity, no dedicated KVM hardware is needed, allowing advanced KVM applications to be layered on top of matrix switching, such as single user control of multiple PC’s or multi-user collaboration.

Figure 2. A cost-effective entry level solution, Semtech’s AVP1000 can be used to transmit up to 4K60 video over 10G Ethernet using standard copper category cabling.

For the most cost-effective solution, providing the lowest latency matrix switch-like performance, Semtech’s entry level AVP1000 AV Processor can be used to transmit up to 4K60 video over 10G Ethernet using standard copper category cabling. Only a handful of core components are required to implement the complete SDVoE Transmitter solution.

Similarly, the AVP1000 can be used to power the SDVoE Receiver, providing an end-to-end solution with sub-millisecond latency for high performance matrix switch replacement using standard 10G Ethernet over copper category cabling. The AVP1000 can also be dynamically switched between Transmitter and Receiver operation, allowing single hardware designs to be configurable at install.
